Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair




Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (V6)

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning (Hot Exhaust System Warning).

Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).


1. Disconnect the 2 heated oxygen sensors after the right catalytic converters.




2. Remove the front exhaust nuts (1) from the rear muffler pipe.




3. Remove the nuts (1) and gasket (2) from the right catalytic converter.




4. Remove the nuts (1) and gasket (3) from the left catalytic converter.




5. If equipped with FWD, remove the front exhaust pipe hanger (1) from the insulator.




6. If equipped with AWD, remove the bolts (1) from the insulator bracket.
7. Remove the upper bracket bolt (2) and lower the exhaust.
8. Rotate the bracket and remove the insulator nut (3).
9. Slide the bracket forward and remove.




10. Carefully lower the front exhaust pipe.

Installation Procedure




1. If equipped with FWD, install the front exhaust pipe hanger (1) to the insulator.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. If equipped with AWD, install bracket onto the insulator and tighten the nut to 32 Nm (24 lb ft).
3. Install the bracket bolts (1) and (2), to the floor panel bar and tighten to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).




4. Install the front exhaust pipe nuts (1) and gasket (2), to the rear muffler pipe and tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).




5. Install the nuts (1) of the front exhaust pipe to the lower right catalytic converter and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).




6. Install the nuts (1) of the front exhaust pipe to the lower left catalytic converter and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
7. Connect the heated oxygen sensors.
8. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
