Timing Cover: Service and Repair




Engine Front Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill))Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill)).
2. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the crankshaft position actuator magnet. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement (Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement).
6. Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LD8) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LZ9 or LGD) (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (LZ9 or LGD) (Service and Repair)Water Pump Replacement (LD8) (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the engine front cover bolts.
9. Remove coolant hose from front cover
10. Remove the engine front cover.
11. Remove the engine front cover gasket.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the engine front cover gasket.
2. Install the engine front cover.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the engine front cover bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
4. Install the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (LZ9 or LGD) (Service and Repair)Water Pump Replacement (LD8) (Service and Repair).
5. Install the thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LD8) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LZ9 or LGD) (Service and Repair).
6. Install the crankshaft position actuator magnet. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement (Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement).
7. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill))Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill)).
