22. Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation Solenoid Valve Replacement

Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation Solenoid Valve Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the case side cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement (20. Control Valve Body Cover Replacement).

2. Disconnect and reposition the electrical connectors from the following:

* The internal mode switch if equipped
* The 2-3 shift solenoid valve assembly (315B)
* The transmission fluid pressure (TFP) manual valve position switch (395)

Note: Do NOT remove the bolt (205) that holds the oil pump together.

3. Remove the oil pump bolts (206, 207).

4. Remove the oil pump (200) from the valve body (300).

5. Disconnect the torque converter clutch pulse width modulation (TCC PWM) solenoid electrical connector.
6. Remove the TCC PWM solenoid retaining clip (314F).
7. Remove the TCC PWM solenoid (334).
8. Remove the O-ring seals (305, 306) from the TCC PWM solenoid valve (334) ONLY if they are damaged.

Installation Procedure

1. Install new O-ring seals (305, 306) onto the TCC PWM solenoid valve (334) if they were removed.
2. Install the TCC PWM solenoid (334).
3. Hold the TCC PWM solenoid in place while installing the retaining clip (314F).
4. Connect the TCC PWM solenoid electrical connector.

5. Install the oil pump (200) to the valve body (300).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

6. Install the oil pump bolts (206, 207).

* Tighten the bolts (207) to 12 Nm (106 lb in)
* Tighten the bolts (206) to 16 Nm (12 lb ft)

7. Reposition and connect the electrical connectors to the following:

* The transmission fluid pressure (TFP) manual valve position switch (395)
* The 2-3 shift solenoid valve assembly (315B)
* The internal mode switch if equipped

8. Install the case side cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement (20. Control Valve Body Cover Replacement).

Note: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, The ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

9. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions (Transmission Adaptive Functions).
