Cabin Temperature Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation

In Car Sensor:

The in-car temperature sensor is located in the Instrument Panel (IP) to the left of center. To provide accurate in-car temperature sensing, a small amount of air is drawn into the in-car sensor housing and passed over the thermistor. The air movement is accomplished by using an aspirator mounted on the top of the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) module. Air flow from the HVAC module creates a slight vacuum at one end of the aspirator which draws in-car air through the sensor housing and over the thermistor. The resistance value of the sensor is sent to the BCM and used in climate control calculations.
