E020 Part 2 of 3
Code E20 (Part 2 of 3):
Fuel Pump Circuit:
NOTES ON FAULT TREE:
1. Checking for proper control of the fuel pump relay by the PCM/ECM.
2. Checking for open from fuel pump fuse to relay pin "1".
3. Testing for open from relay pin "1" to ground.
4. This step checks the continuity of the complete fuel pump circuit from fuse 6 through the fuel pump windings to ground. When the test light is used to jumper the contact cavities of the relay connector, the test light should light if the circuit is OK. If the circuit is OK, then the fuel pump relay is faulty.
5. If relay or relay drive circuits are grounded, the PCM/ECM may be damaged by excessive current draw, if the battery is over 16 volts. Repair the ground or replace the relay and check for proper operation.
6. Fault is most likely at the PCM/ECM connector or PCM/ECM. Before replacing the PCM/ECM, perform "PCM/ECM Replacement Check", CHART C-1.
