Switch Tests
PCM SWITCH TEST1. If the cruise ON/OFF switch or CRUISE BRAKE switch has failed, you cannot enter the switch test sequence.
2. After .7.0 is displayed on the Fuel Data Center (FDC), the PCM Switch Test can be initiated by depressing the brake pedal. When the brake pedal has been depressed the FDC will display E.7.0.
3. At this time the HI and LO buttons on the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) panel can be used to select the specific switch test.
4. When a specific test has been selected and that switch activated, the display will alternately display the code for that test and E.0.0 to confirm the switch is working.
E.7.O CRUISE BRAKE SWITCH
This test detects the open and close of the Cruise Brake Switch at terminal "C2" of the PCM. To test switch, depress the brake pedal.
E.7.1 VCC BRAKE SWITCH:
This test detects the open and close of the Viscous Converter Clutch (VCC) Brake Switch at terminal "C4" of the PCM. To activate test depress brake pedal.
E.7.2 THROTTLE SWITCH:
This test detects the open and close of the nose switch of the Idle Speed Control (ISC) at terminal "A7" of the PCM. To activate test depress accelerator pedal.
E.7.3 NOT A VALID TEST
NOTICE: FDC Will display E.7.3.
E.7.5 CRUISE ON-OFF SWITCH:
This test detects the open and close of the Cruise "ON/OFF" Switch mounted on the dash at terminal "D2" of the PCM. To activate this test place the switch in the "ON" position.
E.7.6 CRUISE SET/COAST SWITCH:
This test detects the close of the SET/COAST switch in the turn signal lever at terminal "D8" of the PCM. To activate this test depress the SET/COAST button.
NOTICE: The CRUISE switch must be "ON" to perform this test.
E.7.7 CRUISE RESUME-ACCEL SWITCH:
This test detects the close of the RESUME/ACCEL switch in the turn signal lever at terminal "C3" of the PCM. To activate this test slide the RESUME/ACCEL switch.
NOTICE: The Cruise switch must be "ON" to perform this test.
E.7.8 POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH:
This test detects the open and close of the Power Steering Switch located on the steering gear at terminal "C9" of the PCM.
NOTICE: The engine must be running and the steering wheel turned to the full left or right to perform this test.
