CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Ignition System Check provides a means of testing ignition system performance and references other charts for specific ignition system conditions. This chart requires J35616 jumper kit.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. This procedure reduces spark advance. Engine rpm should drop as spark is retarded.

2. Make sure that spark plug wires are routed away from and are not contacting the Ignition Control Module (ICM) assembly. This procedure grounds the BYPASS circuit and causes the ignition to operate in MODULE MODE. This will also cause Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P023 Ignition Control Circuit Problem to set. P023
