P075
PCM Circuit:
DESCRIPTION
This diagnostic test compares the vehicle speed to Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP). There must be a corresponding change in MAP with a change in vehicle speed. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will ignore the test if conditions for engine idle are present. If the vehicle speed changes 8 mph or greater in 1 second and is not accompanied by a greater than 2 kPa change in MAP, Code P075 will set.
DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK
This code will not turn "ON" the "Service Engine Soon" Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
This code can be caused by the following:
- Intermittent opens or shorts to ground or each other on CKT 400 and CKT 401.
- Intermittent Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).
- Intermittent terminal contact at PCM pin "2B9" "2B10" or at the VSS.
- Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) induced on CKTs 400 and 401 by running them along side spark plug wires or high power transmitters (like mobile radios) operating in the vicinity.
- Running the vehicle in gear with the wheels off the ground (on a hoist).
TEST CONDITIONS
1. Codes P031, P032, and P034 not set.
2. Engine running, not at idle.
3. Brakes not applied.
FAILURE CONDITIONS
Vehicle speed change, 8 mph or more in a 1 second time period with a corresponding MAP change of 2 kPa or less.
ACTION TAKEN
None.
