Lock Cylinder Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear) .
2. Remove the lock cylinder emblem (1). Refer to Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Northstar) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Impala))Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ESC) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ESC))Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ETC) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ETC))Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Wreath/Crest) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Northstar)) in Exterior Trim.




3. Disconnect the lock release cable from the back of the lock cylinder.




4. Use a long flat-bladed tool in order to remove the retainer (1).
Place a wooden wedge between the flat-bladed tool and the inner panel in order to protect the painted surface of the lid (2).
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Remove the cylinder (4) from the rear compartment lid (2).



Installation Procedure





1. Install the gasket (3) to the lock cylinder (4).
2. Install the lock cylinder into the rear compartment lid (2).
3. Install the retainer clip (1).
4. Connect the electrical connector.




5. Connect the lock release cable to the back of the cylinder.
6. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear (Compartment Lid Trim Replacement - Rear) .
7. Install the rear compartment lid emblem (1). Refer to Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Northstar) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Impala))Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ESC) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ESC))Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ETC) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (ETC))Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Wreath/Crest) (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Northstar)) in Exterior Trim.
