B1552

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The body control module (BCM) contains a data storage area which can save pertinent data when the ignition is turned OFF. The keep alive memory (KAM) data is lost if battery power is removed from the BCM.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
DTC B1552 indicates that the keep alive memory (KAM) has been reset. This is a normal occurrence whenever power or ground is removed from the BCM, such as during a battery disconnect.

ACTION TAKEN
The BCM memory is reset to the initial values. The BCM sets the following defaults:
^ Fuel Level: Empty
^ Afterblow Mode: Disable
^ Afterblow Alarm: Disable
^ Controlled Power Timer: Set to Full Time
^ Power Down Hours: Clear
^ Storage Mode State: Disable
^ Key Cylinder State: Inactive
^ Driver Door Jamb: Closed
^ Other Doors Jamb: Closed
^ Ignition State: Current State

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ A current DTC clears when the malfunction is no longer present.
^ A history DTC clears when the module ignition cycle counter reaches the reset threshold, without a repeat of the malfunction.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If DTC B1552 sets without a battery disconnect, inspect the terminal contacts at BCM connector.
3. This step verifies the BCM voltage supply circuits.
4. The step verifies the BCM ground circuits.
