Headliner: Service and Repair



Headliner Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the doors.
2. Remove both front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) in Seats.
3. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement (D55) (Console Replacement (D55)) in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
4. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Seat Back Replacement - Rear) in Seats.
5. Remove both of the quarter trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper) .
6. Remove both of the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) .
7. Remove both of the shoulder belts to headlining escutcheons. Refer to Seat Belt Replacement - Driver or Passenger in Seat Belts.




8. Disconnect the left rear quarter electrical connectors (1, 2).




9. Disconnect the right rear quarter electrical connectors.




10. Remove the roof mounted courtesy lamps. Refer to Courtesy Lamp Replacement - Rear Quarter in Lighting Systems.
11. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement (Service and Repair) .
12. Remove the overhead console. Refer to Console Replacement - Overhead (Console Replacement - Overhead) .

Notice: Use care when removing or installing the headliner. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

13. Pull down at the attachments in order to detach the hook and loop.
14. With the aid from an assistant, remove the headliner (2) through the right front door.



Installation Procedure






Important: Do not pinch the vanity mirror wires (1) when you install the sunshades and support fasteners.


1. Complete the following steps with the aid of an assistant:

1. Install the headliner (2) into the vehicle.
2. Ensure the mirror and rain sense electrical connectors are visible.
3. Engage the locator magnet at the rear of the headliner.
4. Firmly engage the hook and loop attachments at the center of the headliner.
5. Attach the sunshade supports (5). Refer to Sunshade Replacement (Service and Repair) .

2. Install the interior roof mounted courtesy lamps. Refer to Courtesy Lamp Replacement - Rear Quarter in Lighting Systems.
3. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement (Service and Repair) .




4. Connect the left rear quarter electrical connectors (1, 2).




5. Connect the right rear quarter electrical connectors.
6. Install both of the shoulder belt to headlining escutcheons. Refer to Seat Belt Replacement - Driver or Passenger in Restraints.
7. Install both of the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) .
8. Install the quarter trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper) .
9. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Seat Back Replacement - Rear) in Seats.





Important: With the palm of your hand, press the headliner (1) firmly at the hook and loop attachments (4) in order to secure.


10. Ensure not to leave imprints into the headliner while securing the hook and loop attachment.
11. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement (D55) (Console Replacement (D55)) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
12. Install both front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) in Seats.
13. Close the doors.
