Console Replacement (with UV8)

Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Handling Caution.





1. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Console (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the left console trim panel. Refer to Console Trim Panel Replacement - Left (Console Trim Panel Replacement - Left).
5. Remove the right console trim panel. Refer to Console Trim Panel Replacement - Right (Console Trim Panel Replacement - Right).
6. Disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever pin and the shift bracket. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement.
7. Disconnect the park lock cable from the shifter. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (LHD).



8. Remove the storage bins or the CD changer. Refer to Console Storage Bin Replacement (Service and Repair) or Remote CD Changer Replacement.
9. Remove the cover (1) from the floor of the storage bin.




10. Disconnect the floor console electrical connectors (1,2,3).
11. Move both front seats to the rear in order to access the front console to floor bolts.




12. Remove the bolts (1) that secure the metal bracket arms to the floor.
13. Remove the nuts (2) from the console rear to the floor pan.




14. Remove the screws (2) from the console (1) to the lower instrument panel (IP).




15. Lift up the rear of the floor console to access the cellular phone connections.
16. Disconnect the cellular phone electrical connector (1).
17. Disconnect the cellular phone coaxial cable (2).

Notice: When removing or installing the center console, do not allow the metal brackets to scrape the seats and damage the material.

18. Lift up the rear of the console and slide the console rearward.
19. Remove the floor console from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure






Notice: When removing or installing the center console, do not allow the metal brackets to scrape the seats and damage the material.

1. Partially install the floor console.
2. Lift up the rear of the floor console to access the cellular phone connections.
3. Connect the cellular phone electrical connector (1).
4. Connect the cellular phone coaxial cable (2).




5. Connect the floor console electrical connectors.
6. Lift up on the rear of the floor console (1) and slide the console forward in order to align the front edges of the floor console with the lower IP.
Place the rear of the floor console onto the rear studs.
7. Install the screws (2) through the floor console (1) to lower IP.

Tighten the screws (2) to 2 N.m (18 lb in).





8. Install the nuts (2) to the studs.

Tighten the nuts (2) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

9. Install the bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





10. Connect the electrical connectors (1,2,3) on both sides of the console.




11. Install the cover (1) to the floor of the storage bin.
12. Install the park lock cable to the shifter. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (LHD).
13. Install the shift cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement.
14. Install the left console trim panel. Refer to Console Trim Panel Replacement - Left (Console Trim Panel Replacement - Left).
15. Install the right console trim panel. Refer to Console Trim Panel Replacement - Right (Console Trim Panel Replacement - Right).
16. Install the console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Console (Service and Repair).
17. Install the storage bins or the CD changer as needed. Refer to Console Storage Bin Replacement (Service and Repair) or Remote CD Changer Replacement.
18. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System.
