CIRCUIT/SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Transponder missing, transponder damaged or inoperable-This DTC is to represent transponder key faults.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The ignition must be in Accessory or Run mode for this code to set.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
This DTC shall set when a key read retry is completed or illegitimate key code or full programming is not complete.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
When a key is read successfully
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
Security telltale ON-The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) will not authorize a vehicle to start if the occurrence happens on the initial crank of the first ignition cycle. If a failure occurs after the initial start, the VTD will go to fail enable, allowing future re-starts. The DTC will be stored as both a current and a history code.
CIRCUIT/SYSTEM VERIFICATION
Important: When using this diagnostic, more than one vehicle key is required to ensure proper diagnosis. If more than one key is not available at the time of service, contact the customer and ask if any other keys can be provided for service. If unavailable, a new second key can be created.
1. Inspect all available vehicle keys that they are correct vehicle keys.
- If not a correct vehicle key, replace the key.
2. While viewing the scan tool Transponder Key parameter, turn ON the ignition with each of the available vehicle keys. The parameter should read Present with all vehicle keys.
- If only one vehicle key results in the parameter reading Not Present, replace the affected key.
- If all available keys result in the parameter reading Not Present, replace the TDM.
