Memory Seat Feature Inoperative
MEMORY SEAT FEATURE INOPERATIVE
DIAGNOSTIC FAULT INFORMATION
IMPORTANT: Always perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Testing and Inspection
CIRCUIT/SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Battery positive voltage is supplied to the memory function switch from the driver door module (DDM). When a memory switch is pressed, battery voltage is applied through the switch contacts, a series of resistors and thorough the memory function switch signal circuit to the DDM for the selected memory recall function. The door control module then sends a GMLAN message to the memory seat module (MSM) indicating the memory recall request. The MSM then commands the appropriate seat motors to move to the pre-recorded seat position stored in memory in response to the switch input.
CIRCUIT/SYSTEM VERIFICATION
Ignition ON, use a scan tool to observe the Memory Recall Switch parameter while pressing each memory switch function. The reading should change between Idle and Memory 1, Memory 2, or EXIT as selected.
CIRCUIT/SYSTEM TESTING
1. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the voltage supply circuit at the heated/cooled seat switch and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the voltage supply circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
2. Ignition ON, use a scan tool to observe the Memory Recall Switch parameter while pressing the Memory 1 switch.
- If the scan tool does not display Memory 1, perform the switch component test. If the switch tests normal, replace the driver door module.
3. Observe the Memory Recall Switch parameter while pressing the Memory 2 switch.
- If the scan tool does not display Memory 2, replace the memory function switch.
4. Observe the Memory Recall Switch parameter while pressing the EXIT switch.
- If the scan tool does not display EXIT, replace the memory function switch.
5. If all circuits/connections test normal, replace the memory seat module.
COMPONENT TESTING
MEMORY FUNCTION SWITCH
1. Disconnect the harness connector C4 at driver door module.
2. Measure the resistance between the memory function switch signal terminal and the switch supply voltage terminal.
3. Press the memory switch buttons for memory 1, memory 2, and EXIT.
- If the measured resistance does not display at or near the resistance values provided, replace the heated/cooled seat switch.
