Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair

Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair) .
2. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe (2) quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service) .




3. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (1) from EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




4. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bolt.
5. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.



Installation Procedure






Important: Be sure to install a NEW O-ring on the EVAP purge solenoid valve.


1. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb ft).





3. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




4. Connect the EVAP pipe (2) quick connect fitting to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service) .
5. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair) .
