Rear Compartment Lid Position Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Place the folding top in the up position.
2. Open the rear compartment.
3. Place a protective covering over the interior and the adjacent body panels.
4. Locate the hydraulic pump beneath the carpet in the storage compartment on the driver side of the trunk.




5. Turn the bypass valve (1) counterclockwise until the valve stops.
6. Remove the compartment side trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .




7. Locate the electrical connector (1) on the position sensor switch.




8. Remove the electrical connector (2) from the retainer clip (1).
9. Disconnect the electrical connector.




10. Note the amount of wire between the tie wrap and the position sensor switch prior to cutting the tie wrap holding the electrical wire to the bracket.




11. Remove the position sensor switch screw (2).
12. Remove the position sensor switch from the link (1).



Installation Procedure





1. Verify that the switch pin (2) is positioned between the bracket (3) and the link actuator (1).
2. Align the position sensor switch to the link, aligning the pin on the switch (1) to the hole in the bracket.




3. Apply LOCTITE(TM) Blue, GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the bolts.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

4. Install the screw (2) to the position sensor switch.

Tighten the screw to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).





5. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the position sensor switch.
6. Connect the electrical connector to the retainer clip (1).




7. Secure the electrical connector to the bracket with a new tie wrap. Use the same amount of wire between the tie wrap and the position sensor switch that you replaced.
8. Install the compartment side rim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .




9. Turn the pump bypass valve (1) clockwise until the valve stops.
10. Remove the protective covering.
11. Close the rear compartment.
12. Install the support and the carpet over the hydraulic pump.
13. Operate the folding top under power through one complete cycle in each direction.
14. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation (Power Folding Top Description and Operation) .
