Crankshaft Balancer Replacement

Tools Required

EN-48018 Flywheel Holding Tool

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the supercharger drive belt (3). Refer to Supercharger Belt Replacement (Supercharger Belt Replacement).
2. Remove the air conditioning, power steering, and water pump drive belt (2). Refer to Water Pump and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement (Water Pump and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement).
3. Remove the generator drive belt (1). Refer to Generator Belt Replacement (Generator Belt Replacement).
4. Remove the engine cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Replacement (LH2 Heavy Duty Cooling) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Replacement (LC3, LY7) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Replacement (LH2 without V92, LLT) (Service and Repair).
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




6. Remove the transmission bell housing inspection hole cover.
7. Install the EN-48018 flywheel holding tool as shown.
8. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
9. Remove the charge air cooler cooling pump and position the hoses aside. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump Replacement (Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump Replacement).




10. Remove the crankshaft balancer (2). Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Removal (Overhaul).
11. Ensure that you do not lose the oil pump drive to crankshaft balancer friction washer (3) that may come off with the balancer.
12. Clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection ().

Installation Procedure




1. Ensure that the oil pump drive to crankshaft balancer friction washer (3) is installed.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer (2). Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Installation (Overhaul).




3. Install the charge air cooler cooling pump and hoses. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump Replacement (Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump Replacement).
4. Remove the EN-48018 flywheel holding tool.
5. Install the transmission bell housing inspection hole cover.
6. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Install the engine cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Replacement (LH2 Heavy Duty Cooling) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Replacement (LC3, LY7) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Replacement (LH2 without V92, LLT) (Service and Repair).
9. Install the generator drive belt (1). Refer to Generator Belt Replacement (Generator Belt Replacement).
10. Install the air conditioning, power steering, and water pump drive belt (2). Refer to Water Pump and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement (Water Pump and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement).
11. Install the supercharger drive belt (3). Refer to Supercharger Belt Replacement (Supercharger Belt Replacement).
12. Fill the charge air cooling system. Refer to Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill))Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac N Fill) (Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac N Fill)).
