Exhaust System Insulator, Hanger, Bracket Replacement

Note: Service the exhaust hangers individually in order to retain the support of the exhaust system.

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning (Protective Goggles and Glove Warning).

Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning ([1][2]Exhaust Service Warning).


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




2. Apply a non petroleum based lubricant to the insulators and the hanger rods to aid in removal.
3. Remove the muffler insulator (1) from the rear suspension hanger rod (2).
4. Remove the muffler insulator (1) from the muffler hanger rod (3).




5. Remove the tail pipe insulators (2) from the body support hanger rods (1).
6. Remove the tail pipe insulators (2) from the muffler hanger rods (3).

Installation Procedure




1. Apply a non petroleum based lubricant to the insulators and the hanger rods to aid in installation.
2. Install the tail pipe insulators (2) to the tail pipe hanger rods (3).
3. Install the tail pipe insulators (2) over the body support bracket rods (1).




4. Install the muffler insulator (1) to the muffler hanger rod (3).
5. Install the muffler insulator (1) to the rear suspension hanger rod (2).
6. Inspect for underbody clearance and tail pipe alignment.
