Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair
Secondary Air Injection Pump Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
2. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (1) from the secondary air injection (AIR) pump.
3. Disconnect the AIR pump inlet hose quick connect fitting from the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. Disconnect the AIR pump outlet hose quick connect fitting from the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Remove the AIR pump bolt.
6. Loosen the AIR pump nuts.
7. Lift up and pull out in order to remove the AIR pump from the cradle bracket.
Installation Procedure
1. Align and install the AIR pump integral nuts to the holes in the cradle bracket and push the pump down.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Tighten the AIR pump nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Install the AIR pump bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
4. Connect the AIR pump outlet hose quick connect fitting to the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Connect the AIR pump inlet hose quick connect fitting to the AIR pump. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
6. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the AIR pump.
7. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
