Battery Positive Cable Replacement (LH2 With Top Post)

Removal Procedure

Note:
* Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
* Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

1. Remove the right compartment sight shield. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LHD With Top Post) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LHD With Top Post))Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Side Post) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Side Post)).




3. Rotate the lever (2) on the battery clamp to disengage the clamp.
4. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery (3).
5. Open the jump start terminal cover on the side of the under hood fuse block.




6. Remove the nut (1) securing the battery positive cable (2) to the under hood fuse block.
7. Disconnect the cable retaining clip from the right engine harness retainer.
8. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair).




9. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the starter motor.
10. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair)
11. Remove the generator output nut and cable.
12. Disconnect the right engine harness retainer bracket from the head and reposition aside.
13. Release the generator output wire from the bracket
14. Remove the positive battery cable from the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
15. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the battery positive cable to the engine.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the starter and install the starter terminal nut and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Connect the positive battery cable to the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
4. Connect the generator output wire to the bracket
5. Connect the right engine harness retainer bracket to the head.
6. Connect the generator output nut and cable and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in)..
7. Install the positive battery cable to the retaining features on the engine wiring harness bracket.
8. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Connect the cable retaining clip to the stud.




10. Install battery positive cable (2) and nut (1) to the under hood fuse block and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
11. Close the jump start terminal cover on the side of the under hood fuse block.




12. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery (3).
13. Rotate the lever (2) on the battery clamp to engage the clamp
14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LHD With Top Post) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LHD With Top Post))Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Side Post) (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Side Post)).
15. Install the right compartment sight shield. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement (Service and Repair).
