Intake Manifold Replacement




Intake Manifold Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Service and Repair.

3. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum hose from the intake manifold.

4. Remove the fuel line and power brake booster vacuum pipe bracket from the intake manifold and reposition.

5. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement.




6. Disconnect and remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube (1) from the intake manifold and right camshaft cover.




7. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) hose from the intake manifold and EVAP solenoid.

8. Remove the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.

9. Disconnect and reposition wire harnesses as necessary.




10. Remove the intake manifold bolts (1).

11. Remove the intake manifold assembly (2).




12. Remove and discard the intake manifold gasket (1).

13. To clean the intake manifold, refer to Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection (LF1, LFW or LFX) Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection (LF1, LFW or LFX).

14. To disassemble the intake manifold, refer to Intake Manifold Disassemble (LF1, LFW or LFX) Intake Manifold Disassemble (LF1, LFW or LFX).

Installation Procedure

1. Assemble the intake manifold if needed. Refer to Intake Manifold Assemble (LF1, LFW or LFX) Intake Manifold Assemble (LF1, LFW or LFX).




2. Install the NEW intake manifold gasket (1).




3. Install the intake manifold assembly (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the intake manifold bolts (1).

Intake Tightening Sequence (LF1 or LFW):




5. Tighten the intake manifold bolts in the sequence shown.

6. Tighten the intake manifold bolts in sequence to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

7. Tighten the intake manifold bolts a second pass in sequence to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

8. Install the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.

9. Position wire harnesses and connect as necessary.




10. Connect the EVAP hose to the upper intake manifold and EVAP solenoid.




11. Connect the PCV tube assembly (1) to the upper intake manifold and the right camshaft cover.

12. Install coolant hose.

13. Install the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement.

14. Install the fuel line and power brake booster vacuum pipe bracket to the intake manifold.

15. Connect the power brake booster vacuum hose to the intake manifold.

16. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Service and Repair.

17. Install intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.
