Automatic Level Control Air Compressor Tube Fitting Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle just until all (4) tires are just off the ground. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
Warning
Do NOT remove an air compressor tube in an attempt to depressurize the air suspension. Always follow the Air Suspension Depressurization Procedure in Air Suspension. Failure to follow this procedure may cause personal injury or damage to the air compressor and/or air spring tube fittings.
2. Depressurize the air suspension system. Refer to Air Suspension System Depressurization and Pressurization Procedures.
3. Raise and support the vehicle to a working height.
4. When installing a new automatic level control air compressor tube assembly, proceed to the installation instructions.
Rear Air Spring Compressor Fitting
1. Remove the air suspension tube fittings (1) from the rear air spring compressor.
2. Using an appropriate tool, cut the air tube behind the scored section of the air tube, then clean the end of the air tube removing any burrs or sharp edges prior to installing the new tube fittings,
Rear Air Spring Fitting
1. Remove the air suspension tube fittings (1) from the rear air spring.
2. Using an appropriate tool, cut the air tube behind the air tube flare, then clean the end of the air tube removing any burrs or sharp edges prior to installing the new air tube fittings
Installation Procedure
Important: Proper installation of the air tube to air tube fitting is critical to prevent air leaks. Follow all steps to ensure proper installation.
1. The new service fitting (2) comes with a shipping plug (1) installed, DO NOT remove prior to installing the fitting.
Caution: Do NOT exceed the torque value on the air supply fitting, over tightening may cause the plastic threads in the air compressor or the air spring to become stripped, permanently damaging the air spring compressor or air spring.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the new service fitting into either the rear air spring compressor or the rear air spring and tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
3. Remove the shipping plug (1) from the new service fitting (2).
4. Push the air tube (1) into the service fitting (2) until it is fully bottomed out in the fitting.
5. Pull outward on the air tube, seating the air tube into the fitting.
6. Pressurize the air suspension system. Refer to Air Suspension System Depressurization and Pressurization Procedures.
7. Start and run the vehicle for approximately (1) minute.
8. Check for leaks at the fittings, repair if necessary.
