Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair
Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (FWD)
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning Exhaust Service Warning.
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the front compartment Insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement Service and Repair.
3. Remove the exhaust muffler fasteners (1) and detach the exhaust muffler (3) from the exhaust front pipe.
4. Discard the exhaust gasket (2).
5. Support the drivetrain and front suspension rear frame with a support jack.
6. Loosen the drivetrain and front suspension support fasteners (1).
7. Remove the drivetrain and front suspension support fasteners (2).
8. Support the rear exhaust front pipe with mechanics wire.
9. Rotate the drivetrain and front suspension supports (3) away from the front hanger bracket.
10. Remove the exhaust front pipe fasteners (1) and lower the exhaust front pipe (3) to the floor.
11. Discard the exhaust gaskets (2).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the exhaust front pipe into place and rotate the drivetrain and front suspension supports (3) over the exhaust front hanger bracket.
2. Loosely install the drivetrain and front suspension support fasteners (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
Note: Clean all mating surfaces of oil and debris.
3. Install the exhaust front pipe fasteners (1) with NEW gaskets (2) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
4. Install the exhaust muffler (3) to the exhaust front pipe with a NEW gasket (2) and tighten the fasteners (1) to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).
5. Tighten the drivetrain and front suspension support fasteners (2) to 60 Nm (44 lb ft).
6. Tighten the drivetrain and front suspension support fasteners (1) to 160 Nm (118 lb ft).
7. Remove the drivetrain and front suspension support jack.
8. Install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement Service and Repair.
9. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
