Battery Negative Cable Replacement (LE5) (2.4L Non Hybrid)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LZ4, LY7, and LE5) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LAT) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie bar.
3. Remove the tape holding the positive cable to the negative cable.
4. Remove the negative cable from the retainers.




5. For vehicles equipped with a 6T45 transmission, remove the engine harness ground lead fastener (1).




6. For vehicles equipped with a 4T45 transmission, remove the engine harness ground lead fastener (2).
7. Remove the negative cable.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the negative cable.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. For vehicles equipped with a 4T45 transmission, install the engine harness ground lead fastener (2) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




3. For vehicles equipped with a 6T45 transmission, Install the engine harness ground lead fastener (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
4. Install tape holding the positive cable to the negative cable.
5. Install the negative battery cable clip to the battery tray.
6. Install the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie bar and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LZ4, LY7, and LE5) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LAT) (Service and Repair).
