Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the front transverse spring. Refer to Front Transverse Spring Replacement (Front Suspension Leaf Spring).
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor.
5. Disconnect the electronic suspension control (ESC) electrical connector from the shock, if equipped.
6. Remove the shock absorber from the lower control arm. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (w/o F55) (Shock Absorber Replacement (W/O F55)) Shock Absorber Replacement (With F55) (Shock Absorber Replacement (With F55))
7. Remove the stabilizer shaft link from the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Front Suspension)
8. Remove the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement)
9. Mark the position of the cam bolts for orientation when installing.
Note: For the vehicles with the ZR1 and the ZO6 options, anytime the lower control arms removed, the lower control arm to crossmember cam bolts must be replaced.
10. Remove the cam bolts, washers, and nuts retaining the control arm to the crossmember. ZR1 and Z06, discard the cam bolts.
11. Remove the lower control arm from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the lower control arm in the vehicle.
Note:
* DO NOT tighten the cam bolts to specifications until after the alignment has been performed.
* ZR1 and Z06, use NEW cam bolts only.
2. Install the cam bolts, washers, and nuts retaining control arm to the crossmember.
3. Support the lower control arm with a jackstand.
4. Install the lower ball joint in the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement).
5. Install the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Front Suspension).
6. Install the front transverse spring Refer to Front Transverse Spring Replacement (Front Suspension Leaf Spring).
7. Install the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (w/o F55) (Shock Absorber Replacement (W/O F55)) Shock Absorber Replacement (With F55) (Shock Absorber Replacement (With F55)).
8. Connect the ESC electrical connector to the shock, if equipped.
9. Connect the electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor.
10. Remove the jackstands.
11. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Perform a front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement (Wheel Alignment Measurement).
