Ignition Coil Replacement - Bank 1

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement).
2. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (3) from the ignition coils.
3. If removing the number 5 cylinder ignition coil, remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge tube. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement).
4. If removing the number one ignition coil, remove the canister purge solenoid. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (Service and Repair)




5. Remove the ignition coil bolts.
6. Remove the ignition coils.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the ignition coils.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the ignition coil bolts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. If the number 5 cylinder ignition coil was removed, install the EVAP canister purge tube. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement (Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube Replacement).
4. If the number one ignition coil was removed, install the canister purge solenoid. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (Service and Repair)




5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors (3) to the ignition coils.
6. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement).
