Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The driver window motor is supplied with B+ voltage which is used to power the motor and also used as a reference voltage within the logic circuit. When the driver window switch is pressed, a switch is closed causing the reference voltage in the appropriate circuit in the window motor to drop, the window motor responds by moving the window in the direction commanded.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition On, command the driver window UP, DOWN, express UP and express DOWN by using the S79D window switch-driver. The driver window should perform the UP, DOWN and express functions
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S79D window switch-driver.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit 3 and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the S79D window switch-driver and disconnect the harness connector at the M74D window motor-driver.
4. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal listed below and ground.
* LHD terminal 4
* RHD terminal 6
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
5. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal listed below and ground.
* LHD terminal 3
* RHD terminal 1
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
6. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal listed below and ground.
* LHD terminal 6
* RHD terminal 4
7. Ignition ON, command the driver window to express DOWN by using the S79D window switch-driver. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the express DOWN state.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S79D window switch-driver.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S79D window switch-driver.
8. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 5 and ground.
9. Command the driver door window DOWN by using the S79D window switch-driver. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the DOWN state.
10. Connect at test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
11. Command the driver door window UP by using the S79D window switch-driver. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the UP state.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S79D window switch-driver.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S79D window switch-driver
12. If all circuits test normal, replace the M74D window motor-driver.
Component Testing
Driver Window Switch
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S79D window switch-driver.
2. With the switch in the INACTIVE position, test for infinite resistance between the control terminals and the ignition terminal 5 listed below:
* Control terminal 1
* Control terminal 3
* Control terminal 6
* Control terminal 7
• If less than the specified value, replace the S79D window switch-driver.
3. With the switches in the UP positions, test for less than 2 ohm between the control terminals and the ignition terminal 5 listed below:
* Control terminal 3
* Control terminal 6
• If greater than the specified range, replace the S79D window switch-driver.
4. With the switches in the DOWN position, test for less than 2 ohm between the control terminals and the ignition terminal 5 listed below:
* Control terminal 1
* Control terminal 7
• If greater than the specified range, replace the S79D window switch-driver
