Front Brake Caliper Replacement (J57)
Removal Procedure
Warning:

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
Caution:
Disc brake rotor protectors MUST be installed prior to tire and wheel assembly removal to avoid ceramic brake rotor damage due to contact between the tire and wheel assembly and the rotor. If the ceramic brake rotor is damaged replacement may be required.
2. Install the disc brake rotor protectors and remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
3. Remove the disc brake pads. Refer to Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (JL9, J55) Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (JL9, J55)Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J56) Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J56)Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J57) Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J57).
4. Remove the brake hose fitting bolt (1).
Note:
Do not reuse the brake hose fitting gaskets.
5. Remove and discard the brake hose fitting gaskets (2) from the brake hose (3).
6. Cap the brake hose fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
7. Remove the brake caliper bolts (1).
8. Remove the brake caliper (1).
9. Inspect the brake caliper for brake fluid leakage, damage to the dust boots and pistons and replace, if necessary. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Overhaul (JL9, J55) Front Brake Caliper Overhaul (JL9, J55)Front Brake Caliper Overhaul (J56, J57) Front Brake Caliper Overhaul (J56, J57).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the brake caliper (1).
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the brake caliper bolts (1) and tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb ft).
3. Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) and 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3).
4. Install the brake hose assembly to the brake caliper and tighten the brake hose fitting bolt to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).
5. Install the disc brake pads. Refer to Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (JL9, J55) Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (JL9, J55)Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J56) Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J56)Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J57) Front Disc Brake Pads Replacement (J57).
6. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure).
7. Install the tire and wheel assembly and remove the disc brake rotor protectors. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
