Wheel Stud Replacement

J-43631 - Ball Joint Remover
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools Front Suspension.
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
3. Remove the disc brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J57) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J57)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9, J55, J56) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9, J55, J56).
4. Using the J-43631 - remover(1), remove the wheel stud from the wheel bearing and hub assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the new stud from the back side of the hub.
2. Install several flat washers (1) on the wheel stud.
Note: Ensure that the wheel stud is fully seated against the wheel hub flange.
3. With the flat side of a wheel nut (2) against the washers, tighten the wheel nut until the wheel stud (3) head seats against the wheel hub flange.
4. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J57) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J57)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9, J55, J56) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9, J55, J56).
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
