Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (South America) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (South America)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Europe) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Europe).

3. Remove the rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement Service and Repair.

4. Clean the wheel speed sensor mounting area on the suspension knuckle of any accumulated dirt and debris.





5. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor harness electrical connector (1).

6. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clip (2) from the wheelhouse panel.





7. Release the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) from the rear suspension bracket.





8. Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).

9. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the rear suspension knuckle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the wheel speed sensor to the rear suspension knuckle.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the wheel speed sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





3. Install the wheel speed sensor harness clips (1) to the rear suspension bracket.





4. Connect the wheel speed sensor harness electrical connector (1).

5. Install the wheel speed sensor harness clip (2) to the wheelhouse panel.

6. Install the rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement Service and Repair.

7. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (South America) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (South America)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Europe) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Europe).

8. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
