Door Ajar Indicator Description and Operation

Door/Trunk Open Indicator System Components

The door/trunk open indicator system consists of the following components:

* Body control module (BCM)

* Instrument panel cluster

* Driver information center

* Driver door latch

* Passenger door latch

* Rear compartment lid latch

* Driver window motor

* Passenger window motor

Driver Door Open

The driver window motor receives a discrete input from the driver door ajar switch within the driver door latch to indicate the status of the door. The window motor then communicates this status to the instrument cluster via GMLAN message. The instrument panel cluster, upon receipt of this GMLAN message, will illuminate the Driver Door Open message in the driver information.

Passenger Door Open

The passenger window motor receives a discrete input from the passenger door ajar switch within the passenger door latch to indicate the status of the door. The window motor then communicates this status to the instrument cluster via GMLAN message. The instrument panel cluster, upon receipt of this GMLAN message, will illuminate the Passenger Door Open message in the driver information center.

Trunk Open

The BCM receives a discrete input from the trunk ajar switch to indicate the status of the trunk. The BCM then communicates this status to the instrument panel cluster via GMLAN serial data. The instrument panel cluster, upon receipt of this message, will illuminate the Trunk Open message in the driver information center.
