Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Right Side (Without LS9)

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the engine sight cover. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield ReplacementUpper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (w/o LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.

2. Remove the crankcase ventilation hoses/pipes. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LS7) Service and RepairPositive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LS3) Service and RepairPositive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LS9) Service and Repair.

3. Remove the ignition coil assembly.





Note:
If valve rocker arm cover grommets are cracked or damaged, replace the valve rocker arm cover bolts. The grommet is serviced with the rocker arm cover bolt.

4. Loosen the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

5. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.





6. Remove the gasket (1) from the rocker cover. Discard the OLD gasket.

Installation Procedure

Note:

* All gasket surfaces should be free of oil and other foreign material during assembly.

* DO NOT reuse the valve rocker arm cover gasket.

* The valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets may be reused if not damaged.





1. Install a NEW gasket (1) into the valve rocker cover lip.





2. Install the valve rocker arm cover onto the cylinder head.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Tighten the rocker arm cover bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).

4. Install the oil fill tube into the rocker arm cover.





5. Install the ignition coil assembly.

6. Install the crankcase ventilation hoses/pipes. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LS7) Service and RepairPositive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LS3) Service and RepairPositive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LS9) Service and Repair.

7. Install the engine sight cover. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield ReplacementUpper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (w/o LS9) Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
