Auxiliary Engine Oil Cooler Replacement (Z52)

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the left fender liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Rear Liner) Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Front Liner) .

3. Remove the left wheelhouse extension. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement .

4. Install oil drain pan under the vehicle.





5. Remove the engine oil cooler hose/pipe from the external oil cooler. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting Replacement Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting Replacement.

6. Remove the external engine oil cooler retaining bolts.

7. Remove the external engine oil cooler.

8. Remove and discard all engine oil cooler hose/pipe seals.

Installation Procedure

Caution:
If any malfunction is experienced which may cause debris to enter the oil supply, You must replace the engine oil cooler and hoses. Debris in the engine oil cooler and oil cooler hoses may be pulled back into the engine causing severe engine damage.





1. Install new engine oil cooler hose/pipe seals.

2. Install the external engine oil cooler.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the external engine oil cooler retaining bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

4. Remove the oil drain pan from under the vehicle.

Note:
The quick connect fitting must be pushed on and then pulled back to verify proper connector engagement.

5. Install the engine oil cooler hose/pipes to the external oil cooler. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting Replacement Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting Replacement.

6. Install the left wheelhouse extension. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement .

7. Install the left fender liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Rear Liner) Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Front Liner) .

8. Refill the engine with oil and check for leaks.
