Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement (LS9 and LS7)

Special Tools

J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Install oil drain pan under the vehicle.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair





3. Disengage tension on the engine oil cooler hose clamp (1) at the radiator using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

4. Remove the engine oil cooler hose (2) from the radiator.





5. Remove the bolt (1) securing the engine oil cooler hose/pipe assembly to the engine block.

6. Disconnect the engine oil cooler hose/pipe from the engine block (2).

7. Disconnect the engine oil cooler hose/pipe from the engine oil cooler core (3).

8. Remove the engine oil cooler hose/pipe from the vehicle (4).

Installation Procedure

1. Install new engine oil cooler hose/pipe seals.





2. Install the engine oil cooler hose/pipe assembly to the vehicle (4).

3. Connect the engine oil cooler hose/pipe to the engine oil cooler core (3).

4. Connect the engine oil cooler hose/pipe to the engine block (2).

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution

60 Nm (44 lb ft)

5. Install the bolt (1) securing the engine oil cooler hose/pipe assembly to the engine block and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).





6. Install the engine oil cooler hose (2) to the radiator.

7. Engage tension on the engine oil cooler hose clamp (1) at the radiator using J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

8. Refill the engine with oil and check for leaks.
