Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement (Manual)

* J 23653-SIR - Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor
* J 42137 - Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor Adapter
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to SIR Warning SIR Warning.
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Column Replacement Steering Column Replacement.
3. Remove the steering column shroud assembly. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Manual) Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Manual)Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Telescoping) Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Telescoping).
Note: Let the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil hang freely after removal.
4. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil from the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Replacement Removal and Replacement.
5. Remove the steering wheel inflatable restraint module coil washer from the steering column shaft.
6. Compress the steering shaft lock plate using J 23653-SIR - steering column lock plate compressor (1) and J 42137 - steering column lock plate compressor adapter (2).
7. Remove the steering shaft lock plate retaining ring from the steering column shaft.
8. Remove J 23653-SIR - steering column lock plate compressor and J 42137 - steering column lock plate compressor adapter.
9. Dispose of the steering shaft lock plate retaining ring.
10. Remove the following from the steering shaft:
1. Steering shaft lock plate (2)
2. Turn signal switch cancel cam assembly (3)
3. Steering shaft upper bearing spring (4)
Installation Procedure
1. Install the following to the steering shaft:
1. Steering shaft upper bearing spring (4)
2. Turn signal switch cancel cam assembly (3)
3. Steering shaft lock plate (2)
Note: The steering shaft lock plate retaining ring must be properly seated into the groove on the steering column shaft.
2. Install a new steering shaft lock retaining ring onto the steering column shaft.
3. Compress the steering shaft upper bearing spring using J 23653-SIR - steering column lock plate compressor (1) and J 42137 - steering column lock plate compressor adapter (2) to install the steering shaft lock plate retaining ring.
4. Remove J 23653-SIR - steering column lock plate compressor and J 42137 - steering column lock plate compressor adapter from the steering shaft assembly.
5. Install the steering wheel inflatable restraint module coil washer onto the steering column shaft.
6. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Replacement Removal and Replacement.
7. Install the steering column shroud assembly. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Manual) Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Manual)Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Telescoping) Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Telescoping).
8. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Column Replacement Steering Column Replacement.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
