Manual Transmission Shift Lever and Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

Special Tools

DT-527-A - Adjuster

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools Tools and Equipment.

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the transmission control lever trim cover. Refer to Automatic or Manual Transmission Control Lever Trim Cover Replacement Service and Repair.

2. Remove the front floor console storage tray. Refer to Front Floor Console Stowage Tray Replacement Front Floor Console Stowage Tray Replacement.




3. Lift upward and disengage but DO NOT remove both cable Lock adjusters (1) to release the internal cable assembly, one for each cable.





Note: The hole of the shift control lever must be aligned to the hole in the shifter base so the pin (1) can pass thru both. The shift control lever will be locked in the 1-2 neutral position. Not using the specified tools may lead to improper shift system adjustment.

4. Lock the position of the shift control lever with DT-527-A - adjuster (1) or a 5 mm drill bit.





Note: The hole of the transmission gear control (2) must be aligned to the hole in the base so the pin (1) can pass thru both. The transmission gear control will be locked in the 1-2 neutral position. Not using the specified tools may lead to improper shift system adjustment.

5. Lock the position of the transmission gear control with DT-527-A - adjuster (1) or a 5 mm drill bit.

Installation Procedure





Note: During this procedure DO NOT touch or preload the fixed shift lever as this may cause improper adjustment of the shift system.

1. Secure adjuster locks (1) by pushing down until locked and fully seated. One for each cable.




2. Remove the DT-527-A - adjuster (1) or the 5 mm drill bit from the shift control lever.




3. Remove the DT-527-A - adjuster (1) or the 5 mm drill bit from the transmission gear control.

4. Install the front floor console storage tray. Refer to Front Floor Console Stowage Tray Replacement Front Floor Console Stowage Tray Replacement.

5. Install the transmission control lever trim cover. Refer to Automatic or Manual Transmission Control Lever Trim Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
