Timing Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Water pump. Refer to Water Pump / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
2. Power steering pump bracket (if equipped).
3. Harmonic Balancer. Refer to Harmonic Balancer / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
4. Lower radiator hose from the front cover. Drain the cooling system.
5. Remaining front cover bolts.
6. Front cover.
7. Gasket.

CLEAN
^ Old gasket from the front cover and block.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New gasket.
^ Make sure sealing surfaces are clean.
^ Take care not to damage sealing surfaces.
^ Lightly coat both sides of the gasket with anaerobic sealer.
2. Front cover.
3. Water pump. Refer to Water Pump / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
4. Bolts and stud.
Tighten
^ Bolts and stud to specification. Refer to Specifications / Mechanical / Engine Tightening Specifications.
5. Lower radiator hose to the front cover.
6. Harmonic Balancer. Refer to Harmonic Balancer / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
7. Power steering pump mounting bracket (if equipped).
8. Accessory drive belt.
9. Negative battery cable.
10. Proper quantity and grade of coolant.
