HVAC MODULE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENTTOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
3. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) carrier.
4. Remove the defroster duct.
5. Remove the air outlet ducts.
6. Remove the air distributor duct.
7. Disconnect the electrical connections for the blower motor (1) and the actuators (2).
8. Remove the HVAC module nuts and bolts from the mounting points.
9. Remove the HVAC module assembly (4) from the I/P retainer.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. If replacing the HVAC module assembly, transfer the components from the old HVAC module assembly as necessary.
2. Install the HVAC module assembly (4) to the I/P retainer.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the retaining bolts and nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 8 N.m (70 lb in).
4. Reconnect the electrical connections for the blower motor (1) and the actuators (2).
5. Install the air distributor duct.
6. Install the air outlet ducts.
7. Install the defroster duct.
8. Install the I/P carrier.
9. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
10. Leak test the fittings using J 39400-A.
11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
