Valve Cover: Service and Repair



Camshaft Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .
2. Reposition the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose clamp at the camshaft cover.
3. Remove the PCV hose from the cover.




4. Remove the fuel line clip from the fuel line bracket.
5. Remove the fuel line bracket nut and bracket.




6. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the ground strap stud from the camshaft cover. Remove the strap from the cover.




8. Remove the engine harness clips (1) from the camshaft cover, if equipped with a automatic transaxle.




9. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
10. Remove the camshaft cover.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the camshaft cover.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the camshaft cover bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





3. Install the engine harness clips (1) to the camshaft cover, if equipped with a automatic transaxle.




4. Position the ground strap to the camshaft cover. Ensure that the anti-rotation tab is positioned as shown.
5. Install the ground strap stud to the cover.

Tighten the stud to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement (Service and Repair) .




7. Install the fuel line bracket and nut.

Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

8. Install the fuel line clip to the fuel line bracket.




9. Install the PCV hose from the cover.
10. Position the PCV hose clamp at the camshaft cover.
11. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .
