Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Left Side

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).




2. Remove the coil wiring harness bracket nut (1).
3. Remove the coil wiring harness bracket and set aside.




4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector (1).
5. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum hose from the vacuum fitting.




6. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve hose from the valve cover and rocker cover.




7. Remove the rocker arm cover bolts.
8. Remove and discard the rocker arm cover bolt grommets, if necessary.
9. Remove the rocker arm cover.




10. Remove and discard the rocker arm cover gasket.
11. Clean and inspect the rocker arm cover, if necessary. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection (50. Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection).

Installation Procedure

Note: Do not reuse the rocker cover gasket or the rocker arm cover bolt grommets.




1. Install a NEW rocker arm cover gasket to the cover.
2. Install NEW rocker arm cover bolt grommets to the cover, if necessary.




3. Install the rocker arm cover.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Install the rocker arm cover bolts and tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb in).




5. Install the PCV valve hose to the valve cover and rocker cover.




6. Connect the power brake booster vacuum hose to the vacuum fitting.
7. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector (1).




8. Install the coil wiring harness bracket.
9. Install the coil wiring harness bracket nut and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
10. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
