Inspection/Maintenance Complete System Set Procedure
Diagnostic Instructions

Description
The purpose of the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) complete system set procedure is to satisfy the enable criteria necessary to execute all of the I/M readiness diagnostics and complete the trips for those particular diagnostics. When all I/M monitored diagnostic tests are completed, the I/M System Status indicators are set to YES. Perform the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) Complete System Set Procedure if any I/M System Status indicators are set to NO.
Conditions for Running Procedure
* The ignition voltage is greater than 11 V.
* The barometric pressure (BARO) is greater than 75 kPa (11 psi).
* The intake air temperature (IAT) is greater than -7°C (19°F).
* The engine run time is greater than 10 s.
Circuit/System Verification
Review the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Status indicators. All I/M System Status indicators should report YES, and no I/M Test DTCs should be present.
Circuit/System Testing
Warning: Refer to Road Test Warning (Road Test Warning).
Note:
* Any DTCs set, even those not listed in the I/M system DTC table, may prevent the required DTCs from running.
* Perform the Inspection/Maintenance System Check (Inspection/Maintenance System Check) before continuing this diagnostic.
1. Ensure the vehicle is within the Conditions for Running, as specified in the supporting text.
• If the EVAP I/M System Status indicator displays NO, perform the EVAP Service bay test if applicable.
2. Turn OFF all of the accessories, e.g., A/C, blower fan, etc.
3. Set the vehicle parking brake.
4. Verify the transmission is in PARK for automatic transmissions, and NEUTRAL for manual transmissions.
5. Start and allow the engine to idle for 2 minutes.
6. Using the scan tool trigger a driving regeneration and drive 55 mph until regeneration is complete, approximately 26 minutes.
7. Continue to drive 70 mph for 18 miles.
8. Allow the vehicle to coastdown to 55 mph and than accelerate to 70 mph and then coastdown to 55 mph 5 times.
9. Drive at 45 mph for 5 minutes.
10. Drive a city type cycle between 0-45 mph for 20 minutes.
11. Observe the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) System Status with a scan tool. All of the I/M System Status indicators should display YES.
• If any of the I/M System Status indicators display NO, refer to the Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) Test DTC Table (Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) Test DTC Table) for the indicator which did not display YES. The I/M System DTC Table identifies the DTCs associated with each I/M System Status Indicator.
12. Observe the I/M Test DTC information with a scan tool. Verify there are no I/M Test DTCs present.
• If an I/M Test DTC is set, diagnose the DTC using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle) and refer to Inspection/Maintenance System Check (Inspection/Maintenance System Check).
13. Observe the engine DTC information with a scan tool. Verify no DTCs are present.
• If a DTC is set, diagnose using the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle). After repairs, perform the Inspection/Maintenance Complete System Set Procedure to verify no further DTCs are set.
