Wiring Harness: Service and Repair

Wiring Harness Replacement

Special Tools
* J 36850 Transjel Lubricant
* J 41101 Transaxle Connector Remover

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
2. Remove the transmission side cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement (Control Valve Body Cover Replacement).
3. Remove the control valve body. Refer to Control Valve Body Replacement (Control Valve Body Replacement).

4. Remove the ten channel plate bolts (8, 25).

Notice: Pry on the channel plate near locating dowel pins (45) to prevent damage to sealing surfaces.

5. Remove the channel plate assembly (27). Keep the following components with the channel plate:

* The drive sprocket to channel plate thrust washer (34)
* The 3 accumulator pistons (29)
* The manual valve (800)
* The detent lever spring (804) and bolt (805)

6. Remove and discard the channel plate to case gasket (28).

7. Push the J 41101 onto the pass-through connector from the outside of the transmission case in order to compress the pass-through connector's retaining tabs.
8. With the retaining tabs compressed, use a screwdriver in order to remove the pass-through connector through the inside of the transmission case.
9. Remove the wiring harness (11).

Installation Procedure

1. Connect the wiring harness assembly to the following components:

* The TFP switch assembly (13)
* The pressure control solenoid (312) (red connector)

Important: The 1-2 shift solenoids wires are red and light green. The 2-3 shift solenoid wires are red and yellow.

* The 1-2 shift solenoid (305) (white connector)
* The 2-3 shift solenoids (305) (white connectors)
* The TCC solenoid (335)

2. Install the channel plate to drive sprocket thrust washer (34) onto the channel plate (27).
3. Retain the thrust washer (34) with J 36850 lubricant or equivalent.
4. Install a new channel plate to case gasket (28) onto the transmission cast (51).
5. Install the channel plate assembly onto the transmission case (51). The channel plate should fit tightly over the guide pins (45) located on the transmission case (51).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

6. Install the 2 channel plate to driven sprocket support bolts (25).

Tighten the 2 channel plate to driven sprocket bolts (25) bolts to 14 Nm (124 lb in).

7. Install the 6 channel plate to case bolts (25). Hand tighten the bolts.

Tighten the 6 channel plate to case bolts and the 2 channel plate to driven sprocket support bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).

8. Install the control valve body. Refer to Control Valve Body Replacement (Control Valve Body Replacement).
9. Install the transmission side cover. Refer to Control Valve Body Cover Replacement (Control Valve Body Cover Replacement).
10. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (Removal and Replacement).

Important: It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the engine control module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM) will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

11. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions (Transmission Adaptive Functions).
