Fuel Line Replacement - Chassis
Removal Procedure
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Service and Repair.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Disconnect the fuel feed line (2) from the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. Cap or plug the fuel line and the engine fuel rail to prevent contamination.
5. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) line (1) from the purge solenoid (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
6. Cap or plug the EVAP line in order to prevent contamination.
7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
8. Disconnect the fuel feed line (1) and EVAP line (2) quick connect fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
9. Remove the fuel/EVAP/brake line shield (1).
10. Remove the brake lines (2) from the fuel/EVAP/brake line brackets.
11. Open the line brackets (1) and remove the fuel and EVAP lines (3) from the brackets.
12. Remove the fuel and EVAP lines from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the fuel and EVAP lines to the vehicle.
2. Install the fuel and EVAP lines (3) to the brackets (1) and close the brackets to lock the lines in place.
3. Install the brake lines (2) to the fuel/EVAP/brake line brackets (1).
4. Connect the fuel feed line (1) and EVAP line (2) quick connect fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Install the fuel/EVAP/brake line shield (1)
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Remove the cap or plug from the EVAP line.
8. Connect the EVAP line (1) to the purge solenoid (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
9. Remove the cap or plug from the fuel line and the engine fuel rail.
10. Connect the fuel feed line (2) to the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
11. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
13. Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
