DTC Descriptor
DTC P0562
- System Voltage Low

Circuit/System Description

The hybrid powertrain control module continuously monitors the system voltage on the Ignition voltage circuits. The hybrid powertrain control module is located within the drive motor generator power inverter module and is not serviced separately. Lower than normal voltage may be inadequate to operate the control module or sensors properly.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The hybrid powertrain control module detects system voltage is 10 V or less for 5 out of 6 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P0562 is a Type C DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P0562 is a Type C DTC.

Diagnostic Aids

Observe the driver information center messaging that would indicate the electrical system requires service.

Inspect for the following conditions:

* Loose or damaged battery terminals.
* Loose or corroded connections at the drive motor generator power inverter module.
* Loose or corroded connections at the accessory DC power control module.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Engine running, accessories OFF, measure and record the battery voltage with a DMM. The battery voltage should be 12.5-15.5 V.

If not within the specified range, or the Charge Indicator light is ON, refer to DC Power Conversion Test DC Power Conversion Test.

2. Observe the scan tool hybrid powertrain control module voltage. The reading should be 12.5-15.5 V.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, remove the F103 drive motor generator control module sight shield. Refer to Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement , and disconnect the X4 harness connector at the K1 Accessory DC Power Control Module.
2. Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal X4 bare ground strap and ground.

If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Disconnect the X1 connector of the T6 drive motor generator control module. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control module voltage circuit terminals listed below and ground:

* Terminal 6
* Terminal 7

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control module voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

4. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control module voltage circuit terminal 20 and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control module voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

5. If all circuits test normal, replace the T6 drive motor generator power inverter module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the diagnostic procedure.
