Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side (JF3, JF7, JG4 Without TZ0)

J-37043 - Park Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure




1. Release the park brake.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

3. Loosen the intermediate park brake cable equalizer nut (1).




4. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (1) from the equalizer.

5. Release the left park brake cable from the frame bracket by compressing the locking tabs and pulling the cable conduit rearward.

6. Remove the park brake cable from the cable guides.




7. Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement Service and Repair.

8. Using the J 37043 release tool (1), remove the park brake cable from the backing plate.

9. Remove the park brake cable assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the park brake cable assembly into the backing plate.

2. Install the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement Service and Repair.

3. Install the park brake cable to the cable guides.




4. Connect the left rear park brake cable (1) to the equalizer.

5. Insert the park brake cable conduit into the frame bracket.

6. Ensure the locking tabs on the cable conduit are fully engaged into the frame bracket.

7. Adjust the park brake.
