Shock Absorber Replacement




Shock Absorber Replacement (2500, 3500)

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle enough to place a floor jack under the lower control arm.

2. Reposition the engine splash shield between the frame and the inner wheel house to gain access to the upper shock absorber nuts.





3. Remove the upper front shock absorber nuts (1).





4. Remove the lower front shock absorber nut (1) and bolt (2).





Note:
Turn the tire and wheel assembly to gain enough clearance to remove the shock absorber.

5. Remove the front shock absorber (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Position the front shock absorber (1) in the frame.





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the lower front shock absorber nut (1) and bolt (2) and tighten the bolt to 120 Nm (89 lb ft).





3. Install the upper front shock absorber nuts and tighten to 65 Nm (48 lb ft).

4. Reposition the engine splash shield.

5. Remove the support from the lower control arm.

6. Lower the vehicle.
