Catalytic Converter - Removal

WARNING:
If torches are used when servicing the exhaust system, do not allow any flame near the fuel lines or the fuel tank. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.







1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Saturate the exhaust flange bolts with heat valve lubricant. Allow 5 minutes for penetration.

4. Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connectors.

5. Remove the upper catalytic flange bolts (2).

6. Loosen the lower catalytic flange bolts (3).

NOTE: Right side shown. Left side similar.

7. Raise the vehicle.





8. If equipped, remove skid plate.

9. Remove the lower catalytic flange nuts (2) at the cross pipe (1).

10. Remove the catalytic converter assembly from the vehicle.

11. If required, remove the O2 sensors.
