Electronic Vehicle Information Center - Description






DESCRIPTION

The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) features a driver-interactive display (1). The display is located in the center part of the instrument cluster.





The EVIC display shows the vehicle Odometer (ODO), Trip B readouts, Clock, Temperature readouts, gear selection indicator and the Economy (ECO), Sport or Auto feature indicator. In addition to various messages and indicators the EVIC also displays two digital gauges for the Fuel level indication and the engine temperature indication. The EVIC push-buttons located to the right of the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) can be used to scroll through the different odometer functions. The EVIC system conveniently allows the driver to navigate through and select a variety of useful information by pressing the EVIC function buttons (2,3 and 4). The EVIC displays information related to the following:

- Audio mode display
- Fuel saver indicator, Economizer (ECO) display
- Outside temperature display
- Personal Settings (customer programmable features)
- System Status
- Trip computer functions

The EVIC system is comprised of several different components. Those components are:

- IPC
- EVIC Function Buttons
- Ambient Temperature Sensor
- Controller Area Network (CAN) Data Bus

The EVIC display is part of the IPC assembly and is not serviced as a separate component. If the display is inoperative the complete assembly must be replaced, Instrument Cluster - Removal.
