Air Outlet Temperature Sensor - Removal
REMOVAL
Special Tools:
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE: The Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) heating and A/C system uses two air outlet temperature sensors, that are mounted in the right side of the HVAC housing. One is for the instrument panel outlets and the other for the floor outlets.
INSTRUMENT PANEL
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Partially remove the instrument panel support to gain access to the air outlet temperature sensor (3), located on the upper right side of the HVAC housing (4) Instrument Panel - Removal.
3. Using Trim Stick (C-4755) (1) or equivalent, disengage the air duct temperature sensor from the HVAC housing.
4. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness (2) from the air outlet temperature sensor and remove the sensor.
FLOOR
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the passenger side silencer panel, when equipped Silencer Panel - Removal.
3. Remove the shifter housing trim panels to gain access to the air outlet temperature sensor (2), located on the lower right side of the HVAC housing (3) Instrument Panel Cover - Removal.
4. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness (1) from the air outlet temperature sensor.
5. Using Trim Stick (C-4755) (3) or equivalent, disengage the air duct temperature sensor (1) from the right side of the HVAC housing (2) and remove the sensor.
