Starter - Installation

INSTALLATION





1. Install the starter assembly (5) into the transmission bellhousing while lining up the alignment pin.
2. Install the starter retainers (4).Tighten to 26 Nm (19 ft lbs)
3. Connect the starter solenoid harness (2).
4. Install the starter solenoid retainer (1).Tighten to 9 Nm (80 In. Lbs).





5. Install the lower cradle brace (2) and retainers (1).





6. Install the belly pan (1) covering the bottom side of the engine compartment.
7. Lower the vehicle.





8. Install the starter bolt (2) through the access panel (1) in the transmission bellhousing and tighten to 26 Nm (19 ft lbs).





9. Install the starter bolt access plug (1) located on the back side of the transmission bellhousing. Be careful not to push the plug in too far.





10. Install the air cleaner assembly (1) Air Cleaner Body - Installation.





11. Install the engine cover (1).





12. Install the battery tray (1) and PCM (2) as an assembly.





13. Position wire harness (3) inside the two wire harness retainers (4).
14. Install the nut (5), tighten to , and install the two bolts (1) and tighten to.
15. Position the engine wire harness connector (2) to the battery tray (3).
16. Engage the two starter wire harness retainers (6) to the battery tray (3).
17. Connect the powertrain control module ground strap to the battery (-) terminal and tighten to.
18. Connect the powertrain control module (PCM) harness connectors.
19. Install the battery and connect the battery cables.
20. Start the engine to verify the starter functions properly.
